ALTL 2027 is a two-day international applied linguistics conference in Bangkok, Thailand, and online, on Friday 23 and Saturday 24 July 2027. The International Conference on Applied Linguistics, Language Teaching & Learning meets at Ambassador Hotel Bangkok, and it is hybrid: you can present in Bangkok or live online from wherever you are.
ALTL is for university faculty, TESOL and ELT faculty, language teacher educators, postgraduate researchers and PhD scholars who study how languages are learned, taught and used. You present with an abstract of up to 300 words; no full paper is needed.
Conference themes
- Second language acquisition
- English language teaching methodology
- TESOL and language teacher education
- Technology and AI in language learning
- Language assessment and testing
- English for specific and academic purposes
- Sociolinguistics and multilingualism
- Discourse analysis and pragmatics
- Corpus linguistics
- Translation and interpreting studies
- Literature in language education
- Language policy and planning
If your work spans two themes, choose the main one; the committee can move it.
Present in Bangkok or online
- Oral, in Bangkok: a 10-minute talk with questions, in a themed session.
- Poster, in Bangkok: displayed on both days, with a chaired poster session.
- Online, from anywhere: a live 10-minute talk in an online session, with questions.
Online sessions run in Bangkok time (UTC+7). The Friday session is timed for East and Southeast Asia, and the Saturday session for Europe, Africa and the Gulf. Online presenters do a short technical check before the conference and send a pre-recorded video as a backup. They get the same review, the same DOI and the same certificate as those presenting in person. See our tips for presenting online at a hybrid conference.
Preparing your abstract
Abstracts are up to 300 words, in English, and structured as purpose, methods, findings and implications; conceptual and practice papers set out the aim, the argument or approach, and the implications. Studies with human participants should have ethics approval or consent where required. The full guidelines are on the call for abstracts page. New to this? Read how to write a conference abstract in 300 words.
