Seoul for conference travellers: airport, entry and getting around

Incheon airport and the train into the city, K-ETA and visas, getting around on the subway, spring weather and practical facts.

Seoul is a major centre for medicine and research, with an efficient, affordable transport system, which makes it a practical city for a conference trip. This guide to Seoul for conference travellers covers entry rules, the airport, transport and practical facts, for ADPS 2027 and WGRM 2027 on 23–24 April 2027.

Entry to Korea

Many nationalities can enter Korea without a visa but need a K-ETA (Korea Electronic Travel Authorization) before they fly; others need a visa. Korea temporarily exempted visitors from some countries from the K-ETA until 31 December 2026, so check the rules that will apply when you travel in April 2027 on the official K-ETA site or with the Korean embassy. Apply early.

Once you have registered, you can download a visa support letter from your Eurasia Conferences account.

Arriving at Incheon

Incheon International Airport (ICN) is Korea’s main international gateway, with direct connections across Asia, the Middle East, Europe and beyond. Airport trains and buses run to central Seoul:

  • AREX (Airport Railroad): the express train runs non-stop to Seoul Station in under an hour; the all-stop commuter train is slower but cheaper and connects with more subway lines.
  • Airport limousine buses: run to many districts and major hotels.
  • Taxi: use the official taxi rank outside arrivals.

Getting around

Seoul’s subway reaches almost everywhere you will need. Buy a T-money transit card at the airport or a convenience store and top it up as you go; it also works on buses and in many taxis. Station signs and announcements are in Korean and English.

Where to stay

The ADPS and WGRM venue will be announced on the conference websites. Until then, a hotel close to a subway station gives you the most flexibility.

Seoul for conference travellers: practical facts

  • Weather in late April: mild spring days and cooler evenings; bring a light jacket.

Stay an extra day

Late April is a pleasant time to see the city. Seoul’s palaces, markets and food are worth an extra day. For aesthetic medicine and dermatology delegates, Korea is also a leader in skin-quality treatments and aesthetic devices.
